Up Coming Events
Messy Hair Kennels is up to it again. We are currently looking to put together our second annual bilingual Schapendoes Calendar. We are currently looking for pictures of our lovely friends from coast to coast. Please look at our calendar tab to get more information.
The girls have all been very busy so far this year. Although, we have not spent much time in the show ring, we have been spending a lot of time training. All the girls, Dalia, Millie, and Audrey, have been working hard alongside Ashley and Amanda to learn agility. They really enjoy the sport and are excited to go to their classes weekly. They have even ventured out to a couple of CPE agility shows and an AAC show as well. So far agility seems to be all the girls want to do.
We have been to one confirmation show so far this year and it was great fun. Mainly because the Little Princess Jasmine joined us and her owner - Vero, joined in on the fun by running Dalia in the junior handlers competition. We look forward to going out to a few more shows this season before the show season ends. For now, we will be in the yard having fun practicing our agility skills.
We are glad to announce that Dalia and Lupin's puppies came into this world on Sunday, November 5th. Dalia gave birth to five healthy baby girls. As all of puppies were girls, we decided to name them after "Bells of the Ball". We gave them all Disney Princess names. The girls for now will be called, Elsa, Belle, Sophia, Jasmine, and Ariel.
So far, mommy and the girls are doing great. We are carefully monitoring the puppies weight and of course everyone's health. For now we are giving Dalia and the puppies space, but photos will follow shortly. Stay tuned for updates.
Well it has been another busy and eventful summer here at Messy Hair Kennels. But we're not slowing down yet! We would like to announce that we will be attending the Canadian Pet Expo (CPE) and be showing all our girls, Dalia, Millie, and Audrey, in the Oakville Kennel Club that runs during the event in the International Center on September 9-10th. Most of all we are excited to be participating in the Canadian Schapendoes National Specialty, Regional Specialty, and Booster which will be held at the Oakville show. Millie has begged all summer long to be removed from retirement and her wish has been granted. She will be appearing in the show ring as an Altered, while her crazy sister and daughter will be shown in the Specials class and Brace. Wish us luck as we compete against all the other beautiful Schapendoes. If you can make it out to the event we would love to see you.
We have been very busy running around with the girls this summer. Between going to shows and events with our girls on top of the many visitors we have had at the kennel, we have not had a lot of time to update the website. So just to let everyone know where we will be in the upcoming weeks.
Audrey and Dalia have been hitting the show circuit as much as we can. And all that hard work has paid off. Audrey is officially a Champion in both the Canadian Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club. Audrey even earned her Canine Good Neighbour certificate too. Millie has been pulled out of retirement and has hit the show circuit with her sisters. She is being shown as an altered and loves it. She too successfully passed her Canine Good Neighbour certificate. Dalia has been working hard in the ring to earn her Grand Championship in the Canadian Kennel Club. She only has a little way to go. And if we were not busy enough, Dalia and Audrey have been training in Brace and have successfully competed in events over the last few weeks. Dalia has even been taking agility classes and loves it!
So where will we be in the next few weeks, The Canadian Pet Expo showing in the Oakville Kennel Club on September 9-10th, 2017. The Schapendoes Club of Canada will be hosting a booster, sweepstakes, and National Specialty on Saturday September 9th and a Regional Specialty on September 10th. The girls are looking forward to catching up with the many Schapendoes that will be in attendance as well as meeting the many people who will be coming out to the show.
After the Specialty, the girls are going to focus down on their obedience training and practice so they can enter in obedience and rally trails later this fall to early next year. We will post as events and details as they emerge.
We are glad to announce that Messy Hair Kennels will have its own booth this year at the Canadian Pet Expo 2017. The event runs from April 14-16 - the Easter long weekend - and we would love to see all of you. We will be bringing all our girls with us and are looking forward to the event.
As the month continues on, we will be continuing to train our little girls and prepare them for upcoming shows and events. We had an outstanding time last year at all the shows and events, and truthfully are a little bored with everything on hold due to winter. Although everyone is keeping busy playing in the snow, we cannot wait for the nicer weather to re-appear. We will update everyone on any upcoming events as soon as we have details. Have a great day!
Over the next few weeks we will be preparing Dalia and Audrey for their upcoming confirmation shows. Stay tuned for updates on where and when we will be at the shows. Have a great week everyone.
We will be participating in the Schapendoes Club of Canada Ontario's Fall Walk tomorrow, October 15, 2016. It is going to be a great day with lots of friends and many Schapendoes. It is being held at the Ken Whillans Resource Management Area Parking Lot. The walk is about an hour long and on an easy trail for walking. We will be starting the walk at 10am sharp. We will post pictures tomorrow evening when we return.
On August 27 and 28th, we took a very long road trip to Long Sault, Ontario for the 2nd Schapendoes Specialty held at Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry Dog Association. We had a great time there meeting about 20 Schapendoes and their owners. On Saturday, August 27th under Judge Alistair Sutherland in the Sweepstakes competition Dalia took Best in Sweepstakes. Under Judge Godelieve De Wit, Dalia was placed Best Female and Best of Winners and Audrey was Best Baby Puppy. Under the Judge Denys Janssen, Dalia took Best Female and Best of Opposite and Audrey took Best Puppy in Breed. On the 28th, under Judge Wayne Douglas Dalia placed Best Female and Best in Breed. We are so thankful to all the judges, and to the Schapendoes Club of Canada for putting on a great specialty. We look forward to keeping up with our new friends and hope to see them all again soon at upcoming shows and events. Here is a picture of Dalia and Amanda running the ring for the Sweepstakes competition and a photo of Dalia with all her ribbons. There is also a photo of little Audrey with her ribbons too.
So where will we be next? Dalia, Audrey, Amanda and the gang will be heading to the International Center to compete in the Oakville & District Kennel Club Show on September 10th and 11th. This event is being held within the Canadian Pet Expo event. We will be in Ring 5 under Judge Ms. N. Tibben at approximately 12:50pm on Saturday and in Ring 4 under Judge Ms. T. Buckley-Bettis at approximately 10:45am. The event is open to the public, so if you can make it come on by and cheer on your favourite breed. We are planning on walking around the Canadian Pet Expo with our girls after the show and would love to meet any of you and introduce you to our girls.
